It's no secret: Most local residents do not hail from South Florida. Whether it's New Yorkers or Canadian drivers, a large proportion of our populace is trying to escape winter. Not Cubans, though. For the past half-century, more than any other group, the Cuban population has been making its impression in South Florida felt through amazing meat- and bean-filled food, that delicious crack-like coffee, and music, and art. If you're looking to get your fill of Cuban culture -- and your heart can't handle any more cortaditos -- the Armory Art Center will be presenting "Cuban Connection: Contemporary Cuban-American Art From Florida." The exhibit, which runs until March 16, celebrates the work of seven well-known Cuban-American artists. The works included will highlight different media: painting, video, etc. Entrance is free.
