No one can say there isn’t a nightlife scene in downtown Fort Lauderdale. The cultural scene can be a little thin on the ground, particularly if you are a member of the 18-to-34 age demographic. While theater is great — and with the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, Fort Lauderdale is home to one of the biggest theaters around these parts — one theater does not a cultural scene create. People, especially the 18 to 34s, need to socialize. They need their art and literature and culture to come with cocktails and live music and good conversation — and a little good food wouldn’t hurt either. They need to be in a relaxed yet inspiring environment. That’s why the Museum of Art|Fort Lauderdale hosts First Fridays every month in its fairly recently remodeled café and courtyard area.
This month, from noon to 2 p.m., listen to live music by Jeff Egan and his Jazz Trio while enjoying tricolor pasta with grilled chicken. The free event takes place both outdoors in the museum’s shady plaza and inside in the Books & Books café. The Museum of Art|Fort Lauderdale is located at 1 E. Las Olas Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale. Call 954-262-0255, email email@example.com, or visit moafl.org.
First Saturday of every month, 12-2 p.m. Starts: Jan. 5. Continues through May 8, 2013
