Comedian Mike McDonald has one of those familiar faces. Although you’d swear you know him from somewhere, chances are the déjà vu stems from McDonald’s stint on Fox’s Mad TV. He was on the kooky sketch comedy show for more than ten years, after all, where his high-pitched, flatulence-loving man-child character Stuart left an indelible mark on audiences. Unless you are from Orange County, California (where McDonald grew up and cut his teeth with famous improve troupe the Groundlings), you probably know his recognizable mug from seeing it on television. McDonald has guest appearances on Seinfeld, Ellen, Just Shoot Me, News Radio, Scrubs, Desperate Housewives, Cougar Town... the list is endless. McDonald has been around the block, teetering on the brink of A-list fame for several decades now. He has also done work behind the camera, directing episodes of 2 Broke Girls, 7th Heaven, and of course Mad TV. Where McDonald truly excels is on stage, however, his roaring hourlong Showtime hilarity Michael McDonald: Model. Citizen a testament to the man’s comedic talent. This 2010 comedy special serves as just a teaser to what McDonald is up to now. All of his shows have sold out coming into his performance at the Fort Lauderdale Improv, so grab your tickets quickly and get to know McDonald more intimately. Although your gut is going to be hurting from the mile-a-minute laughs, you’ll be happy you spent some time staring at his known face.
