Short plays are sitcoms of the theater world. If long, intense dramas are too much, funny shorts are the perfect way to spend an evening. Not only is there guaranteed laughter but there’s also the smarmy superior feeling you get when participating in the arts while your friends sit at home and watch Big Bang Theory reruns.
“Shorts Gone Wild” is a collection of funny, brief playlettes being produced by Miami’s City Theater. These LGBT-centered shorts are sure to bring on the funny. Bonus feature for those who enjoy their theater with a side of audience participation: To keep the actors guessing, the audience gets to decide the order of the short plays.
“Shorts Gone Wild” will be playing August 8 through September 1, Thursdays to Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 5 p.m., at the Empire Stage, located at 1140 N. Flagler Drive in Fort Lauderdale. Tickets cost $30. Visit islandcitystage.org, or call 954-519-2533.
Thursdays-Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sundays, 5 p.m. Starts: Aug. 8. Continues through Sept. 1, 2013
