Common wisdom is that laughter is the best medicine. Bob Marley once sang, "One good thing about music, when it hits, you feel no pain." Whether you're sick, sad, somewhere in between, or just want to get out for the night, if you're looking to have a good time, concerts or comedy shows are definitely two pretty cheerful options. For the ultimate combination in merrymaking, Damien Figler is bringing his Rock N' Comedy to the Catskills Comedy Club in Fort Lauderdale.
On Saturday at 8 p.m., Damien "The Bastard Son of Broward County" Figler will be joined by Carlos Valencia, who has performed with Doug Stanhope's Big Stink Tour, and Nico Prada. And Chris Topher will be standing up for Figler's lighthearted Rock N' Roll Thrash Metal Edition. Kevin Perry will lead the parade as ringmaster and host of the festivities. To tie in the metal component, Thrash or Die, West Palm's Cyst, and the Mighty Doctor Fukk (Ralph of Thrash or Die) will be doing a one-time-only standup set. Special guest Matt Devries from Fear Factory, Six Feet Under, and Chimaira will be onsite as special guest bouncer, also selling merchandise and signing. It's the perfect opportunity to watch headbangers giggling away. The cost to attend is $10. Catskills Comedy Club is located at 840 E. Oakland Park Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale.
