Black Friday is finally behind us. The wrenching pseudo-holiday that sees middle-aged Americans brawling over big-screen TV sets does not leave shoppers with a superior reputation. The new keyword in shopping is "local." And if you still have to complete your Christmas gift list or are looking for something to fill your heart hole, the Retro Rodeo: A Vintage Market Extravaganza will put a smile on your face.
With more than 100 vendors in a 72,000-square-foot area, the event is bound to offer something that tickles your fancy. Last year, 5,000 attendees got their shopping on. This year, the larger venue means a bigger chance of finding something right up your alley. The emphasis is on vintage items and antique goods. It's like recycling but way better because you get to go shopping. Keep an eye out for everything from suitcases to comic books and from vintage Christmas decorations to records that will round out your vinyl collection and impress your friends. The point is, shopping local keeps your funds in your community. And if all of that doesn't sound like a rootin', tootin' good time, we reckon this mammoth of an event might not be for you, pardner.
The Retro Rodeo: A Vintage Market Extravaganza takes place this Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Bergeron Rodeo Grounds, located at 4271 Davie Road in Davie.
