What do you choose to keep private? These days, it seems all you need is a device and a password for the opportunity to share your deepest or most mundane thoughts with the world. But while we have chosen to make privacy a fleeting concept, embraced only by those who give a shit, there are still certain ideas and opinions you might not want to scream from the rooftops. "Which Way Out -- Personal Thoughts Made Public" is a new art exhibit curated by the City of Pembroke Pines that features seven accomplished artists who each interpret the struggle over sharing or keeping information private. Some secrets are easier to keep private than others, like struggling in the closet instead of coming out to your friends and family. That's why this exhibit has a strategic connection with Pembroke Pines Charter High School's Gay-Straight Alliance. The students will play a part in the show, giving them a safe place to express themselves in a world full of privacy settings. The students will even be covering Macklemore and Ryan Lewis' "Same Love," allowing this event to not only be entertaining but also an important soapbox for the next generation. "Which Way Out -- Personal Thoughts Made Public" debuts Friday with an opening reception from 7 to 10 p.m. at Studio 18 in the Pines, 1101 Poinciana Drive in Pembroke Pines. The exhibit runs through April 3. Call 954-961-6067, or visit ppines.com/studio18.
