The Good Kind of Murder

If you have gotten sucked into even just one Law & Order: SVU marathon, then one thing is for sure: You know how to crack a case. With enough Law & Order and CSI varieties to fill an entire channel, it's clear that the public still likes to solve a good mystery. All that intense watching can give you the idea that you are a master DNA analyst with a side of always-accurate intuition. Since you have been training for your chance to bust the bad guy, it's only right to put your skills to good use. Cut, Blow & DIE! is the theme of this year's ClueLess on Las Olas. The event, named after the Clue board game and not for '90s movie nostalgia, will feature wannabe detectives playing their hearts out in a murder-mystery game. Participants have a chance to grab some refreshments and read up on the mystery before the show gets started and six characters are introduced. One of them is the guilty party, but how to tell? The would-be winners will take to Las Olas to snag clues from different shops and restaurants. The top-sleuthing teams throw their names in a raffle, with the winner taking home a VIP Florida Panthers package for the 2014/15 season. While the suspect and the winners are still waiting to be determined, one thing is definitely not a mystery: Being a detective has never been this much fun. Cut, Blow & DIE! happens Thursday, with check-in from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at 335 SE Sixth Ave. in Fort Lauderdale and the party at the adjacent Laura Ward Park. Registration is limited to 450 participants. Advance registration is $35 per person via browardpartners.com. Onsite registration will be $40 per person, if space is available. Call 954-288-7203, or email eventsetcfla@aol.com.
