Miami Heat Fans will have something to look forward to other than the Big Three this season. If you're in the mood to get your early basketball championship fix and revel in a traditional good-luck charm, come to a reception on Saturday for well-known artist Erika King's Miami Heat Championship Series collage art. The Miami Heat art show will include several original works and giclée prints of the Heat's LeBron James and Dwyane Wade and showcase the team's 2006, 2012, and 2013 NBA championships. King's Miami Heat history dates back to 1995, when she met Coach Pat Riley. Over the years, Riley and the Heat have commissioned King to create Heat championship collages. She has also created collage tributes to Alonzo Mourning, Tim Hardaway, longtime trainer Ron Culp, and the Heat's current head coach, Erik Spoelstra. Her work is known to be exciting while embracing the sport's finest players in moving, colorful, and vibrant images. Her trademark is the use of colorful acrylic paint strokes while connecting photographic images to illustrate a compelling visual story of a career, an event, or a history of achievement. Additionally, King's collages have been specially made for several Fortune 500 companies, political figures, and musical artists. She has also created commemorative collages for the World Trade Center. The opening reception is from 7 to 10 p.m. and is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served. The event is taking place in the Studio Kanter Gallery, which is located in Fort Lauderdale at 25 NW Seventh Ave. The Miami Heat Championship Series will run through June 28. Gallery hours are Wednesday to Saturday from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. or by appointment. Email firstname.lastname@example.org, or call Adrienne Kanter at 305-606-5157 or Eric Kerl at 305-987-6357.
