With Cinco de Mayo falling on a Monday this year, you may not have truly been able to get in there and give the holiday your all, you know? Thankfully, the Palm Beach Zoo is looking out for your inner party animal and providing a redo of sorts with a "South of the Border"-themed bash at its annual spring fundraiser, Do at the Zoo, on Friday.
With a "fiesta casual" dress code to adhere to, you could safely hit up Party City for half-priced Cinco de Mayo accents around, say, Wednesday and save any leftover funds to put in the pockets of the Palm Beach Zoo and Conservation Society to help take care of the more than 800 animals in its care.
The night will include themed cocktails provided by Bacardi and a movable feast set up by nine area restaurants, including Echo, Nick & Johnnie's, Rooney's Public House, and Table 26. A mariachi band will be paired with DJ Vlad for the musical portion of the night. To get a glimpse of all that the zoo does, guests will get an insider's view of both a jaguar mealtime and a black bear honey feeding.
Stick around for a silent auction for chances to bid on Katy Perry concert tickets, golf lessons, hotel and spa deals, and snorkeling packages. Tickets cost $200. Call 561-533-0887, ext. 285. Do at the Zoo runs from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Palm Beach Zoo, 1301 Summit Blvd., West Palm Beach.
