Do you ever get sick of your buddies? You can be honest with us. Sometimes going to the same living room to sit on the same couch, drink the same shitty beer, and watch your favorite sports team gets old. You do it a lot, and hey, your friends can be assholes. That's why you can relate to The League. Sometimes, it's just easier to pretend the fantasy-sports-loving gang are your people than to actually hang out with your people.
The best thing about Steve Rannazzisi's Kevin character on The League is that it doesn't take much to think you are actually friends with this guy. And friends don't miss friends' comedy shows. Your bestie Rannazzisi is coming through, and he's taking it back to his first love, standup comedy. The seasoned funnyman cut his teeth as a doorman for the Comedy Store before he couldn't take it anymore and had to write his own act. Now, he might not be taking home the Shiva Bowl, but he will give you those gut-busting giggles that only a friend can.
See Steve Rannazzisi live this Thursday through Saturday at the Fort Lauderdale Improv, located at 5700 Seminole Way in Hollywood. Tickets cost $20 plus fees, and there's a two-drink minimum. Visit ftl.improv.com, or call 954-981-5653. Showtimes are Thursday at 8 p.m., Friday at 8 and 10:30 p.m., and Saturday at 7 and 9:45 p.m.
