This Saturday night, South Florida's premier gay and lesbian wind ensemble invites audiences to revel in the moonlight with its production A Little Night Music. While most will recognize the title (an English translation for Mozart's Serenade No. 13 for strings in G major) from the popular romantic Broadway musical inspired by the Ingmar Bergman film Smiles of a Summer Night, this troupe of talented orchestral players has more than just Mozart concertos in store. South Florida Pride Wind Ensemble promises to cover an array of evening favorites, from classic to jazz hits to musical scores and movie soundtracks. Expect to hear choice numbers from Fantasia ("Night on Bald Mountain"), jazz standards ("A Night in Tunisia"), and even tracks off Star Trek: Into Darkness. South Florida Pride Wind Ensemble emblazons each number with its special lighting, eye-catching backdrops, and alluring video presentations too. Expect several dazzling soloists to be featured as well.
This musical celebration of the night takes place Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, located at 201 SW Fifth Ave. in Fort Lauderdale. Tickets cost $25. Visit pridewindensemble.org, or call 954-462-0222.
