Five Wildest Fourth of July Parties in Broward and Palm Beach Counties

Fourth of July is a chronological bookmark in U.S. history, honoring the day this nation adopted the Declaration of Independence, making it special and not British. From a party standpoint, July 4 represents barbecues, fireworks, and flag-patterned bikinis and banana hammocks.

Don't forget to don your favorite rainbow tutu or unicorn mask.

Explosives lit by drunken folks will keep skies and fingertips burning brightly all over the country. But for those of us celebrating this honorable holiday in the sweltering heat of Broward and Palm Beach counties, here are a few excellent ways to show your love for 'Murica. These events include electronic beats, opportunities to stuff face with delicious food, and even USA-themed burlesque.

5. Boomin' Beats Industry EDM Party

6 p.m. Friday, July 4. Respectable Street, 518 Clematis St., West Palm Beach. Visit respectablestreet.com.

The West Palm musical haven Respectable Street presents its second-annual industry EDM event. Hosted by Chris J Prizm, the blowout promises some of the biggest electronic producers locally and from around the world. The party that's noted by the promoters online as "by the people, for the people" is presented by both Millennium Recordings and Bad Ass Shit Records. Don't forget to don your favorite rainbow tutu or unicorn mask; there will be a streaming, global broadcast from the-lost-art.com. Look and feel your best — you're representing the SoFla dance music scene to the world here.

4. Cookout for Healthy Bellies

5 p.m. Friday, July 4. Dada, 52 N. Swinton Ave., Delray Beach. Donations requested. Visit sub-culture.org/dada.

Rock 'n' roll and good food will rule at Dada's do-gooder Fourth of July event benefiting the Delray org Healthy Bellies, which feeds and educates at-risk youth and their families about eating healthfully. Skinny Jimmy & the Stingrays and the Riot Act will perform for this very tasty cause.

The charity was founded by the restaurant's executive chef, Bruce Feingold, and his wife, Amanda. Healthy Bellies has a goal of providing a crock pot to each of the 700 families at Delray Beach's Achievement Center. Come out, rock out, and donate — it's the human thing to do.

3. Spin Doctors at BB&T Center

5 p.m. Friday, July 4, at BB&T Center, 1 Panther Parkway, Sunrise. Visit thebbtcenter.com.

Get deep into those nostalgic feelings with onetime radio faves the Spin Doctors at Sunrise's BB&T Center. Local vendors will provide good eats while family-fun-zone activities will get your little ones off your back long enough to sing "Two Princes" or "Little Miss Can't Be Wrong" — because nothing that feels that good can be wrong. The night'll be capped off with a fantastic fireworks display.

2. Ritz Glitz Revue: Red, White & Tease Burlesque Show

8 p.m. Saturday, July 5, at Stache, 109 SW Second Ave., Fort Lauderdale. $10 general admission, $15 table seating, and $25 VIP seating. Show is 21 and older. Visit stacheftl.com.

Fort Laudy's 1920s speakeasy pairs up with the festival founders of Pinned Miami for a night of sensual red, white, and blue burlesque by Miss Natrix's Ritz Glitz troupe. Have fun at this USO revue, but please, leave the pokey fireworks thong, flag pasties, and Uncle Sam top hat at home — that's for the performers only.

1. Replay America

4 p.m. Sunday, July 6, at Hard Rock Live. 1 Seminole Way, Hollywood. Visit hardrocklivehollywoodfl.com.

We took it back to the '90s with that Spin Doctors concert, but for those in need of further time travel, Hard Rock Live presents Replay America. This throwback show by SiriusXM's '80s on 8 features the Go-Go's, Patty Smyth of Scandal, Martha Davis and the Motels, and Naked Eyes. Smear on neon anything, tease your plastered-down bangs, slap on some bangles, and belt out those tunes. Don't worry, we won't tell anyone about your weird look or crackly voice — our lips are sealed.
