We at the New Times love a nice drink — or 40. That’s why we’re setting up more than 40 winetasting stations, with pairings from Florida’s finest restaurants, at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts (201 SW Fifth Ave., Fort Lauderdale). The New Times’ Third-Annual Food and Wine Pairing starts with a VIP reception at 6:30 p.m. where you’ll get a cooking demonstration from Chef Allen Susser of Chef Allen’s and Taste Gastropub. For the main event, which runs from 7:30 to 10 p.m., there’s a ton of live entertainment — DJ Crush, acoustic guitarist Michael Isla, classic rock by Curbstone, Japanese taiko drumming — and dozens of participating restaurants. It’s a night of royal feasting and wining at decidedly democratic prices. Tickets cost $40 in advance, $50 at the door. VIP costs $75 in advance, $85 at the door. You must be 21 or older to go.
