Tonight’s game against the Atlanta Thrashers at will be the Florida Panthers last at home before the NHL splits for the Winter Olympics, and it’s a safe bet that no one is happier about that than Panthers goalie Roberto Luongo. Luongo, who will represent his native Canada, leads the league in saves this year partially because of his tenacity and catlike reflexes, and partially because the dude’s been shot at more than 50 Cent. He’ll have his work cut out for him against the Thrashers’ Ilya Kovalchuk, who leads the league in goals scored. Kovalchuk will need to be shut down if the Panthers hope to even the season series against their Southeastern Conference foe at two games a piece. The game begins at 7:30 p.m. at the BankAtlantic Center (2555 Panther Parkway, Sunrise). Tickets start at $20. Call 954-835-7000, or visit www.floridapanthers.com.
