Girls’ Club

The Monterey Club is a venue loved by music junkies, and now it’s scoring the fashionistas when it hosts its second Pin-Up Fashion Show. New Times has described this bar aplenty: It’s rockabilly/retro-themed. There are cushy couches and animal-print rugs; hot rods sit out front. But, on Friday, the Monterey will be full of rockabilly/retro-themed fashion, and there will be a new beverage on Monterey’s menu: free champagne (just for the women). Yes, there will be a runway inside Monterey, where five to six clothing companies specializing in vintage bathing suits to pinup rockabilly ’50s retro garb will showcase their lines. You’ll find street wear to cocktail dresses, 15 or so models, and probably a whole lot of men lurking (remember, women get free champagne the whole night, and the pool table is free).

Some clothing companies include Kreepy Kouture, vintage lingerie shop La Boudoir Miami, and Chiquita’s Boutique, and bands Gold Dust Lounge and the Recently Deceased will perform after the show or — who knows? — maybe even between fashion sets. The night is sponsored by Kreepy Kittens, a pinup gang aimed to furthering the pinup lifestyle. Doors open at 9 p.m.; fashion starts at 10 p.m. at the Monterey Club (2608 S. Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale). Entry is $5, $10 for VIP seating (the only seating in the house). Call 954-598-1887, or visit
