Perhaps Halloween gives women carte blanche to strip down to the naughtiest gear possible and strut about nearly naked in public. But wild parties are not suited for everyone, especially those with children. Cinema Paradiso offers a load of Halloween fun minus the provocation under one roof at the eighth-annual FLIFF BOO-Tacular on Wednesday. As part of the Annual Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival, this spooky breakaway event features an awesome hayride around the New River. The evening runs from 5 to 7 p.m. and includes costume contests, candy, and a family-friendly film. Adults wanting to get their horror-film fix can stay later (8 p.m. to midnight) and enjoy a Halloween short film program and screenings of Darcyana Morena Izel and the world premiere of Dark Amazon, with the director in attendance. Tickets cost $5 per film; the BOO-Tacular event is free. Cinema Paradiso is located at 503 SE Sixth St. in Fort Lauderdale. Call 954-525-3456, or visit fliff.com.
