Love food, but hate genetically modified organisms having anything to do with the stuff you eat? Chipotle Mexican Grill has vowed to be GMO-free, and you can too. On Thursday, support GMO-Free Florida's World Food Day and head to Chipotle Mexican Grill in Fort Lauderdale for lunch or dinner. The nonprofit, grassroots organization works to educate Florida communities statewide on the importance of GMOs food labeling. Their mission: to have mandatory labeling of GMOs across Florida, with the long-term goal of banning the release of GMOs into the environment. With your Chipotle purchase, you'll help GMO-Free Florida promote its GMO-labeling initiative across the state. To show your support, all you need to do is call in an order for pickup (or dine in) at Chipotle Mexican Grill on North Federal Highway between 2 and 6 p.m. The fundraising event will donate 50 percent of the proceeds to the GMO-Free Florida "Right to Know" campaign. To participate, show this write-up (or mention "GMO-free Florida") to the cashier when you order. GMO-Free Florida World Food Day will take place Thursday from 2 to 6 p.m. at Chipotle Mexican Grill at 1736 N. Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale. Visit gmofreeflorida.org, or call 954-400-5028.
