Most of us spend the entire workweek cooped up at our desks, staring at spreadsheets, typing, or transfixed by videos of cats all day. It's important to step away from the computer screen and surround yourself with other human beings at the end of the week. If you like cute animals (aside from frisky felines on Youtube), craft beer (who doesn't these days?), and getting out of the house on a Saturday night, Brew at the Zoo might just be your ideal weekend excursion.
Taking place at the Palm Beach Zoo on Saturday from 6 to 9:30 p.m., the beercentric event includes live music by Making Faces and Salty Pirates, great food from local vendors and food trucks, up-close and personal animal encounters, and unlimited samples of beer from more than 25 craft breweries. General-admission tickets cost $35 per person. For $75, VIP tickets offer early admission at 5:30 p.m., a limited-edition T-shirt, exclusive premium brew samples, a buffet meal in the Tropics Café with live music by Steve Chumley, and all the G.A. features. Designated driver tickets cost $15. All guests must be 21 and up to get in; government ID is mandatory. Advance ticket purchase is also required. Palm Beach Zoo is located at 1301 Summit Blvd. in West Palm Beach. Call 561-547-9453, or visit palmbeachzoo.org.
