The holiday season is in full effect, which means there is no shortage of passé retellings of age-old morality lessons disguised as history (queue the manger scene). That is, unless you’re the Rising Action Theatre Company, whose members have taken it upon themselves to spread their own brand of all-inclusive holiday cheer. Their latest production is none other than Paul Rudnick’s The Most Fabulous Story Ever Told. Running now through January 18, the play is a re-imagining of the Biblical story of creation. Only this tale begins in the Garden of Eden with God’s real O.G. couples, Adam and Steve and Jane and Mabel. Watch the plucky pairs as they try to figure out procreation, that whole flood debacle, and eventually wind up at a present-day Christmas party in Chelsea where a lesbian rabbi is all set to marry a very pregnant Jane to her female partner.

Catch Fabulous performances Wednesday through Sunday at the Rising Action Theatre, located at 840 East Oakland Park Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale. Tickets cost $58 for dinner and the show, or $30 for the show only. Call 800-595-4849, or visit risingactiontheatre.com.
Thursdays-Sundays, 8 p.m. Starts: Dec. 25. Continues through Jan. 18, 2008
