Sure, any reasonable person with a subscription to Juxtapoz Magazine and a penchant for complimentary wine and cheese can call themselves an art lover. But, if you’re looking for art you can spoon, it’s best not to turn to your framed, limited edition Hope poster (that Shepard Fairey has sharp corners!) when the softer side of art wins out at the new “Art You Can Hug” show at Howley’s Restaurant (4700 South Dixie Highway, West Palm Beach). As part of the monthly “With a Side of Art” showcase at the diner, AYCH will feature local works ranging from handmade dolls, plushies to softies, sock monsters, and anything else you can wrap your loving arms around and not get cut. Artists include Stitch Rock’s Amanda Linton, Brigid Howard, Erika Taguchi-Newton, and many more. Tuesday’s reception runs from 8 to 11 p.m., but the works hang cozily around until the end of April. No cover. Call 561-833-5691, or visit withasideofart.blogspot.com.
