Some chefs and restaurant industry folk are known for their hard-ass, take-no-prisoners persona, but the culinary community can also be quite generous with its time and talents. Take, for instance, tonight's Taste of the Nation Fort Lauderdale hosted by Share Our Strength at Broward County Convention Center. Dozens of South Florida's best-known chefs and restaurateurs will donate their efforts to Share Our Strength's mission to end childhood hunger: Money raised at tonight's event benefits local antihunger organizations. Among the many marquee names are restaurants like Casa d'Angelo, Joe's Stone Crab, Market 17, Max's Harvest, China Grill, 3030 Ocean, Cafe Maxx, and III Forks. Chef Ralph Pagano of Gulfstream Park and Kelly Craig of the Paul & Young Ron Morning Show on Big 105.9 will act as MCs. Wine and liquor will also be served at the event, which runs 7 to 10 p.m. General-admission tickets cost $90. VIP tickets cost $160 and grant you entry from 6 to 10 p.m. The convention center is located at 1950 Eisenhower Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale. Email [email protected], or visit strengthflorida.org.
