School’s out for the summer. And what better place to celebrate the break from studies and after-school activities than at the inaugural POPS Rock Da Park Summer Family Fest at Huizenga Plaza in Fort Lauderdale?
The event — sponsored by Planned Parenthood of South Florida and the Treasure Coast, United Way of Broward County Commission on Substance Abuse, and the Professional Opportunities Program for Students Inc. (POPS), a nonprofit, community-based organization serving high school students between the ages of 15 and 18 who face social and economic barriers that result in a lack of opportunity for personal growth and professional development — promises to be a fun time for the entire family. From high school bands to adult bands like 13th Floor, Industrial Sattelite, and Vis Major, live music will rock da park. Everyone will enjoy the local food-truck vendors. And children won’t want to miss the bounce houses, cotton candy, and face-painting.
Don’t miss this free family event at 1 East Las Olas Blvd. on Saturday from 2 to 6 p.m. Call 954-533-1406, or visit popsinc.x10.mx.
