Wiggle Room

FRI 10/24

Who is your favorite Wiggle? What is a Wiggle? you ask. The Wiggles are an Australian musical group and then some, created by three college chums more than ten years ago. Anthony Field, Murray Cook, and Greg Page put their heads together and started writing children's songs for a school project. They had pulled in one of Field's friends, former bandmate Jeff Fatt of the Cockroaches, for some assistance. Maybe you've heard of them? Long story short, now the group was complete with four members who were all a little bit wiggly, so to speak.

Even if you don't know which Wiggle is red and which is purple, your kids have most likely seen The Wiggles hit TV series on Playhouse Disney or watched a Wiggles video. The Wiggles are respected by parents and educators for their promotion of socially positive behavior in children and just for making learning fun.

Don't miss the Wiggles live on-stage Friday and Saturday, October 24 and 25, at the American Airlines Arena (601 Biscayne Blvd. Miami). See your toddler's eyes light up when he or she sees that the Wiggles have brought their friends along! The kids can sing along with Dorothy the Dinosaur, Henry the Octopus, Wags the Dog, and none other than Captain Feathersword himself to Wiggles hits "Big Red Car," "Toot Toot," "Wake Up Jeff," and many more. Tickets are on sale now, and you have four chances to catch this opportunity for good family fun. Showtimes are 3 and 7 p.m. Friday and noon and 4 p.m. Saturday. To purchase tickets, wiggle on over to the American Airlines Arena box office, or call Ticketmaster. -- Beth Kirkpatrick

Get Crafty

THU 10/23

Hey, you! Do you really want to egg old Bannister McFeely's house? C'mon, egging is so 12 years ago! And don't even think about picking up that bag of dog poop. Why don't you do something more constructive? Like crafts! The Tamarac Community Center (8601 Commercial Blvd., Fort Lauderdale) has put together a "Halloween Craft Workshop" for kids ages 4 to 12. You can make a skeleton out of pasta or a papier mâché spider. Or you could make a ghost out of a Tootsie Pop and toilet paper -- remember those? Then throw that at old McFeely's house! On fire! The cost is $5 per child, and the workshop starts at 3:30 p.m. Call 954-724-2445. -- Audra Schroeder
