Writings on the Wall

Like most career fields, street art tends to be dominated by guys. There's no hiding that we live in a male-dominated world. But this Saturday from 7 to 10 p.m., things will be different. To celebrate its tenth public mural and the first year of its public art program, the Hollywood Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA)'s Downtown Hollywood Mural Project (DHMP) is bringing in a local lady to commemorate the occasion. Tati Suarez will conduct a live painting during this month's Downtown Hollywood Artwalk. Returning to South Florida after a successful stint in New York -- Suarez recently released custom-designed shoes for Reebok -- Suarez will add her girly, dreamlike interpretations to the side of 2020 Harrison St. in downtown Hollywood. The free monthly art crawl includes live music and showcases local artists and their work. It takes place along Hollywood Boulevard and Harrison Street between 21st Avenue and Young Circle.
