News flash, gentlemen: The reason your significant other has been giving you the silent treatment is because you bungled Valentine's Day by staying home and watching WWE Raw. Surprising your lady with a night out would be a good idea, and a smart choice is Friday’s Bonnie Raitt concert. From her early days as a bottleneck/slide guitar virtuoso to her current status as Rock ´n’ Roll Hall of Famer (and nine-time Grammy winner), Raitt needs no introduction. 2006 marks 35 years since the release of her eponymous debut album. Over the years, Raitt has become a true renaissance woman, exploring blues, R&B, rock, pop, jazz, and world music styles; surviving the highs and lows of fame and obscurity; and working tirelessly in activism. Indeed, at an age when many of her peers are nearing retirement, Raitt seems to be hitting her stride. Not bad for a woman who never planned to go into music. Raitt hits the stage at 8 p.m. at the Mizner Park Amphitheatre (590 Plaza Real, Boca Raton). Tickets cost $45 to $65. Call 561-750-1668, or visit www.miznerparkamp.com.
Fri., March 3, 8 p.m.
