A Day To Honor
This Sunday, you're cordially invited to attend Hollywood Mayor Bober's third-annual Veteran's Day Barbecue. The saucy picnic, over Veterans Day weekend, is to pay tribute to those who have served the United States since World War II to now. Mayor Peter Bober is manning the grill, and rumor has it he's a skilled grillmaster. Along with good eats, charming Hollywood firefighters will be in attendance with their shiny fire truck for kiddies and folks to scope out.
The Florida National Guard band, Dogface Soldier (actual name), will provide the tunes, and a presentation of companion pets from Service Dogs for Service Members will entertain. Be sure to look up in the sky not for birds but at the banner plane, which will fly over to give an honorary, aerial salute. And to add to the celebration, an erected wall space will be available for veterans and active service members to post their photos.
Join the third-annual City of Hollywood Veterans Day Barbecue from noon to 4 p.m. at Topeekeegee Yugnee (TY) Park, 3300 N. Park Road in Hollywood. Admission is free by RSVP'ing via 954-921-3404. Visit hollywoodfl.org.
