A Laugh-Out-Loud Kind of Night
Now that you've kicked off April with April Fool's Day to get one funny fix, make sure to catch Second City's Happily Ever Laughter show, which is making its way to Palm Beach's Kravis Center for the Performing Arts. With more than 50 years of excellent satiric revues, Chicago's very own Second City will be in town through Sunday to give you big laughs. Don't miss the opportunity to watch a comedy show inspired by and based historically on what started in a small cabaret theater in 1959 and eventually became the most influential and prolific comedy theater in the world. Second City launched the careers of Tiny Fey, Stephen Colbert, Steve Carell, Gilda Radner, Amy Poehler, Jason Sudeikis, and Bill Murray and is still setting a high standard for comic acts. Drawing on classic material from the Second City archives as well as scenes ripped from the morning headlines, Happily Ever Laughter is your chance to see comedy stars in the making while cracking up to an evening of smart, cutting-edge comedy.
The show is based on hilarious sketch comedy, songs, and improvisation from the next generation of the company's comedians: Rachel LaForce, Chris Redd, Kate Lambert, Daniel Strauss, musical director Jacob Shuda, and Kellen Alexander. Tickets start at $35 and can be purchased at kravis.org. The show will be held in the Marshall E. Rinker Sr. Playhouse inside the Kravis Center, which is located at 701 Okeechobee Blvd. in West Palm Beach. Showtimes are every day at 7:30 p.m. from today through Sunday, plus a matinee show at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Contact the box office at 561-832-7469.
