A Local Fright Can Be Twice As Nice

Why make the schlep up to Universal Studios Orlando when you can experience just as much terror for half the price and less of a drive at the South Florida Fairgrounds' annual Fright Nights. The expansive fairgrounds offers more than 21,000 square feet of spine-tingling fright, with tons of new carnival rides this year as well as three terrifying new haunted houses. Be careful checking into the Flamingo Hotel, where two orphanage runaways have taken shelter and have discovered a newfound thirst for blood. There there's New World Order, a Walking Dead-style postapocalyptic future in which a clan of human clones seeks to brainwash and torture disobeying dissidents. And finally, visit the world of Vile, a chilling place full of deviants and demons at every turn. Look out for many more games, ghouls, scare zones, and the fairgrounds' usual deep-fried everything available at the food trucks. Fright Nights kicks off this Friday from 6 p.m. to midnight at the South Florida Fairgrounds, located at 9067 Southern Blvd. in West Palm Beach. It's open 6 to 11 p.m. Thursdays and 6 to midnight Fridays and Saturdays until November 1. General admission is $15 and includes a visit to all three haunts.
