Art is often meant to rock the boat, but in the case of Valyn Calhoun, the boat has been tipped over and completely stripped down. Calhoun is a photographer whose images ignite controversy, debate, and awe. Calhoun's "Retrospective" features themes such as homoeroticism, fetishism, fashion, and nightlife frolic, to name a few.
ActivistArtistA Gallery is presenting the retrospective from Thursday through September 27, and the grand reception is Saturday, August 24, at 7 p.m. There will be live music, a DJ, live models, food vendors, and more. Calhoun will be there along with model-turned-photographer Rita Baum, who will have her own images of Calhoun on display. The event is free, but the gallery is requesting that those planning to attend RSVP at ActivistArtistA@Gmail.com. ActivistArtistA Gallery is located at 422 W. Industrial Ave. in Boynton Beach. Visit activistartista.com, or call 786-521-1199.
