Art Gets Lit
Maintaining its tradition to honor the faculty that makes Florida Atlantic University's Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters what it is, the Schmidt Center and Ritter Art Gallery are gearing up for their Biennial Faculty Art Exhibition. Though the exhibition lasts almost the entire fall semester, you will not want to miss opening night. Visitors are in for a real treat this year, as the exhibition will feature a variety of masterpieces, ranging from traditional drawing to dynamic electronic and digital works. In case you missed it last year, the opening reception will also commence the ongoing screening of the annual "films4peace" series in the Ritter Art Gallery. A project of PUMA Peace, "films4peace" is a unique series that recruits 21 international artists to illustrate their interpretation of peace. The conclusion of the reception will surely evoke some inspiration with a video performance by meme (media experimental ensemble). In essence, it will show the general public how FAU's visual arts, multimedia studies, and architecture programs adapt to the evolution of contemporary art. Come out to support your local artists on Friday at the Schmidt Center Gallery and Ritter Art Gallery, located at 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton. Taking place from 6 to 9 p.m., the initial viewing is in the Schmidt Center Gallery and concludes with meme's video performance in the Ritter Art Gallery. Admission is free. For more information about visiting the university galleries, visit fau.edu/galleries, call 561-297-2661, or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
