Art to Hang, Wear, and Eat
This Saturday, the folks who organize Delray Beach’s popular indie crafts bazaar, Stitch Rock, will move their marvelous assemblage of local artists a little farther north to the Armory Art Center in West Palm Beach. Art Rock 2013: Art Show and Indie Market promises more than 60 booths of artists’ work in mediums such as painting, ceramics, photography, fabric, sculpture, and even edible art. Lowbrow or highbrow, no matter, it’ll all be represented here. There will even be DIY fashion, funky jewelry, and home décor items for attendees on the lookout for the right accessory or knickknack. Hang it, wear it, even eat it — there’s a multitude of ways to enjoy the creations at ArtRock 2013. It’s billed as a “cash-and-carry” art show, because if you bring some cash, you’re guaranteed to carry out some work. And unlike the big-ticket items you see at most galleries, the gems you’ll find at ArtRock — encompassing material from South Florida’s most accomplished and up-and-coming artists — will not cost you an arm and a leg. Get there early: The first 100 guests will receive swag bags chock-full of handcrafted goodies.
This local artful affair takes place Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. at the Armory Art Center, located at 1700 Parker Ave. in West Palm Beach. Admission is $5 for adults; children 12 and younger get in free with adult admission. Visit artrocks.com, or call 561-832-1776.
