Craft-beer fever has only recently infected the nation, but we were the test case. We don’t call our signature party the New Times “Original” Beer Fest for nothin’. We’re in the 15th year of throwing this extravaganza, and we’ve thought of everything. Craft beer? We got it! Good ol’ domestics? They’re overflowing! National band? Dirty Dozen Brass Band, holla! We know, we know — the college basketball semifinals are happening the same night. Don’t worry — we’ve got Jumbotrons for that! So rev up your Solo cup — wait, nope, we’ve upgraded to keepsake mugs this year — and hustle down to Huizenga Plaza (32 E. Las Olas Blvd., Fort Lauderdale) to explore our pop-up mecca of beer and booze.
The event begins at 6 p.m. General-admission tickets are available for $30 in advance, $40 at the door. For those interested in the VIP experience, tickets are $65 in advance, $75 at the door. VIP ticket holders will be privy to unlimited liquor samples, food samples from local restaurants, unique craft beers, comfortable seating, premium stage views, and giveaways. Additionally, the BX Beer Depot has created a special 15th-anniversary brew available only to VIP guests. Hosting the event are radio personalities Stugotz and Hochman from the Dan LeBatard Show on 790 “The Ticket,” and a portion of the event proceeds go to benefit the Children’s Starlight Foundation.
