I didnt have the cash to do my collecting at Art Basel or Art Miami not even across the street, in that weird little warehouse where people with dreads were selling abstract expressionist paintings by their dog (sans frames). Thats because I, like you (dear New Times reader), am a starving artist. Which is why I, like you, should probably consider going to Art Rx II tonight even if only for the free champagne and sushi (courtesy of Whole Foods). Theres more to it, of course. Art Rx is a unique forum whereby little-known local artists like Teresa Korber, Audra Milboer, Lawrence Taylor, Heather Tipton, and U.N.O. will be displayed and sold along with other, far more famous artists like Allen (not Albert) Hirschfeld, Mark Kostabi, and Kevin Red Star. And even the starvingest among us can likely cough up the dough to buy these pieces some are priced as low as $50. The deals go down tonight at the Lounge (517 Clematis St., West Palm Beach), and admissions free. Call 561-827-8360 for more info.
