National Burger Month might have ended May 31, but, let’s face it: Summer is here — we might as well just call it National Burger Season. To keep the burger festivities going, Smokey Bones Bar & Fire Grill is hosting a battle of the burger eaters. The competition will pit two teams of six against each other in an attempt to take home the crown for Burger Battle Champion of the city and fund for their chosen charity.
The team with the fastest burger consumption time in each market will be sent off to compete to be the National Burger Battle Champion. Starting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, the contest kicks off with an Amstel Light tailgate party, followed by the big event at 8 p.m. The Fort Lauderdale Police team will be representing Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, and the Margate Fire Department will be vying for Margate Firefighters. There is no cost to attend. Smokey Bones is located at 809 S. University Drive in Plantation. Call 954-474-3833, or visit smokeybones.com/battle.
