We all know that police officers are just doing their jobs. We like safe roadways, but -- let's be honest -- no one likes to be on the receiving end of one of those safety-preserving citations. Just once, maybe you'd like to see the cop hustle to answer your questions and hand over what you need. Satisfaction can be yours, harmlessly and with the defense of good intentions, at the sixth-annual Tip-a-Cop Fundraiser for the Special Olympics. From 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Beef 'O' Brady's of Cooper City (8655 Stirling Road, Cooper City), officers from the Broward County Sheriff's Office will be waiting tables, running orders, and refilling beverages as "celebrity servers." Your tip will be a donation to the Special Olympics. While some of you habitual speeders and red light runners might experience some schadenfreude, you are advised not to snap your fingers and call out "Garçon!" After all, wouldn't want the officers remembering your name when they get back in their uniforms. Call 954-689-4747, or visit beefobradys.com/mybeefs/coopercity.
