Children, Like Miniature Do-Overs
After a certain age, chances are you will never be a singing sensation, but that's why God invented children. You might never have your name in bright lights on Broadway or be the next Judy Garland or Liza Minnelli, but that doesn't mean your kids can't. Drag your little future starlet, age 11 to 18, over to the Fort Lauderdale Children's Theatre (FLCT) at the Galleria Mall (2542B E. Sunrise Blvd., Fort Lauderdale) on Sunday to audition for the FLCT's Glee Show Choir Auditions. In addition to male and female singers, they are looking for aspiring pianists, drummers, and guitar and bass players. Relive your childhood dream vicariously through them when the kids perform numerous times from November to January. If they make the cut, they also get to perform at Walt Disney World!
For the auditions, the little hopefuls should have a one-minute song prepared that fully demonstrates their vocal abilities. They'll also be asked to sing and dance to provided numbers. The audition is free. But there are class fees; visit FLCT.org or call 954-763-6882 for more information about that. The classes are from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays and 5 to 8 p.m. Sundays from October 2 to January 29.
Sun., Sept. 18, 5 p.m., 2011
