Climb for a Cure
Heres a secret about lung disease: its afraid of heights. OK, maybe not, but after this Saturdays inaugural Fight for Air Climb, it should be. The event is a benefit the American Lung Association of Florida, and puts participants in a race to the top of the 30-story 110 Tower (110 SE Sixth St., Fort Lauderdale). Thats 539 stairs and theres no taking the elevator. The climb starts at 8:30 a.m., so youll want to forego the Friday night beer run for a Saturday morning water binge. Of course, therell be plenty of H2O available during the climb, as well as other incentives for those braving the trek like a T-shirt, food, a medal of recognition, a post-climb party, and best of all, an appreciation for healthy lungs once you reach the top.
Registration costs $25 with a minimum pledge of $100 per climber. Online registration ends this Friday. Call 954-524-4662, or visit fightforairclimbftlauderdale.com.
