Close Your Eyes and Repeat After Him
One of the first rules of attending a comedy show: Never be late. The reason: Aside from common courtesy, it's the latecomer who usually gets called out and "incorporated" -- in a not-so-flattering way -- into the set. But at a Flip Orley show, becoming a part of the act is sort of the goal. The comedian/hypnotist plucks volunteers from the audience to come onstage and act like, say, a Texas oil tycoon or a Jersey princess. Everything happens under Orley's direction, and it's all in good fun. The national comedian is more interested in bringing out his victims' playfulness than in humiliating them in front of a bunch of bachelorette parties. Flip Orley will perform Thursday at 8 p.m., Friday at 8 and 10:30 p.m., Saturday at 7 and 9:45 p.m., and Sunday at 7 p.m. at the Palm Beach Improv, 550 S. Rosemary Ave., Ste. 205, West Palm Beach. Tickets cost $20, and there's a two-drink minimum. The shows are 21 and older only. Call 561-833-1812, or visit palmbeachimprov.com.
Thu., Dec. 20, 8 p.m.; Fri., Dec. 21, 8 & 10:30 p.m.; Sat., Dec. 22, 7 & 9:45 p.m.; Sun., Dec. 23, 7 p.m., 2012
