L.A. nightlife meets Hindu mythology on Saturday when the California-based Shakti Dance Company dolls up and dances for deities. You’re invited to push back on an audience seat in the Broward Center of Performing Arts (201 SW 5th Ave., Fort Lauderdale) and be hypnotized for a solid two-and-a-half hours (7 to 9:30 p.m.) as the dancers perform Shiva-Shakti, a visual interpretation of Hindu mythology complete with kohl-lined lids, hair garlands, and rows of tiny bells wrapped around slim ankles, echoing the quick, complicated steps. The evening will also feature a live orchestra and the crooning feats of Lakshmi Shankar, all brought to you by the Association of Performing Arts of India. Tickets range from $39 - $100.
