The beauty of this one is, you have all day to remember. CNN will be a maudlin Ferris wheel all day, while Fox News stokes the shards of hurt and fury that are still, nine years on, floating like kidney stones through your bloodstream. There will probably be footage of skyscrapers collapsing, which, not to get too Freudian, is and likely ever will be a real boner killer. So youll get your fill of mourning, of people wondering what it all means; then youll throw on the slickest, tightest, blackest outfit you own and get your kink on at the Fetish Apocalypse, the latest in the Fetish Factorys Alter Ego series of monthly goth-lust throwdowns. The events name and its flier, featuring a corseted lass in bandolier, offer a nod to the militarism that its date, 9/11, has come to represent. What does it all mean? That you cant control. But on a day synonymous with mass murder, a bacchanal centered on transgressive eroticism is a small signal that the terrorists, so-called, have indeed not won. The party (which commands a strict dress code) runs from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. at Sea Monster Nightclub (2 S. New River Drive W., Fort Lauderdale). Tickets cost $20 at the door or $15 in advance at the Fetish Factory or via thefetishparty.com.
Sat., Sept. 11, 10 p.m., 2010
