Delicious Do-Gooding

Since it arrived in Fort Lauderdale, Wholefoods (2000 N. Federal Hwy., Fort Lauderdale) has worked diligently to become an integral part of our community. They donate to our local non-profits, both time and product. They sell only items that we feel good about buying - so there is no fear of killing the planet based on which can of tuna you wind up selecting. And most of all, they make damn good food. It’s a trifecta.

Now our favorite organic peddlers are taking things one step further with this evening’s opening of the new Lifestyle Center at Wholefoods. The area next door to the marketplace that once housed Metro PCS has now been converted into a full-on community space. There are countless ways that you can get involved: yoga, cooking classes, and wine tastings all fill the space’s weekly calendar. At tonight’s kick-off spectacular benefiting the Poverello Center in Wilton Manors, $20 gets you access to scrumptious food, preparation demos by Whole Food’s pros (at 6:45 p.m. and 7:45 p.m.), and a mouth-watering sampling of the best vino this good world has to offer. While you’re there, grab a copy of the Lifestyle Center’s newest calendar; you never know when you might feel compelled to take a class on cheese. Call 954-565-4138, or email
