Thursday, the music inside the Hard Rock Seminole Casino could become so gay as to open a rupture at the quantum level. Three of the biggest names in 70s music are all going to be at there for Disco Night, performing live. Who are they? The Village People. Gloria Gaynor. And the Trammps. The Village People will do YMCA. Gloria Gaynor will do I Will Survive. Have those two songs ever been performed in the same place at the same time? I Will Survive is the gay national anthem, and YMCA is the song about mens health-club cruising that prompts oblivious straights to raise their hands above their heads and spell out the words like cheerleaders. The two songs performed together in one night might trigger a violent eruption of grooviness. Combine them with the Trammps Disco Inferno and this could become a species-ending event.
Disco Night kicks off at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Hard Rock Live (1 Seminole Way, Hollywood). Tickets cost $49 to $69. Call 954-797-5531, or visit myhrl.com.
