Calling on all disco fiends: The disco ball is back where it should be — on top of the dance floor — and you’re needed. It’s a ’70s Versus ’80s Party at Posh Nightclub in downtown Fort Lauderdale, and New Times has a gut feeling the ’80s will be represented. People freak at the chance to wear acid-washed jeans, leg warmers, jumpsuits, and long locks à la Bret Michael. We get it: It’s stirrup pants over flared trousers any day, but we want not only a fair showing but the moves. We want the ’70s hustle on the floor — ’80s head bangs can be done by the wall. Make room for the people who can line-dance to Clarence Carter’s “Strokin’.” So we call upon all you bell-bottom- and Afro-loving peeps. Throw on the platforms. Iron the suit. Represent Saturday Night Fever on a Thursday… in 2010. Under one roof that offers hookahs of 25 flavors, there will also be $6 martinis and two-for-one premium drinks, house wines, and domestic beers. Dance-offs are free. No cover. The night kicks off at 8 p.m. at Posh (110 N. Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale). Call 954-763-3553.
Thu., Sept. 23, 8 p.m., 2010
