Dress For Success
Ah, weddings: The most romantic and memorable time in a womans life. Except, you know, all the planning. All the freaking out over minute details; the fastidious attention to everything from too much pesticide in the flower arrangements to whether his sister will eat the salmon if she finds out its farm-raised. What a nightmare. Well, at least shes got her dress. If all else fails if the chapel burns down or the entire grooms side gets food poisoning at least shell look stunning in that gown.
Choosing that perfect gown? Thats another story. For the women in Stephanie Allison Walkers Three Fittings, it proves to be just as daunting a task. One bride was hasty, so shes stuck with a dress that she might not want to spend the rest of her ceremony with. (Uh oh, Batman, its the metaphor signal!) A second is a bit of a rebel she finds dresses to be oppressive tools of the patriarchy. The last bride-to-be knows that its not about the dress at all. What is she thinking? Find out at the Womens Theatre Project production of Three Fittings, running now through May 18 at Sixth Star Studios (505 NW First Ave., Fort Lauderdale). Tickets cost $25.
