Eat in the Name of Seafood
How often does the topic of seafood sustainability come up in conversation? Never? Perhaps it’s time to reconsider our neighborhood aquatic friends and think of the ocean as more than just a spot to flirt with tourists and locals alike. To raise awareness to sensitive seafood issues, Flavors of Fort Lauderdale enters the scene this Thursday through Sunday, rolling out a four-day celebration of culinary offerings. The occasion has tapped renowned chef and food advocate Allen Susser as the event’s ambassador. Susser will host the weekend’s biggest tasting and wrap-up party, Flavors Grand Tasting, on Sunday ($79 in advance, $100 day of event), where he will charm attendees from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. with delicious food and wine pairings and thought-provoking conversation. In addition to lavish food sampling, the four-day event boasts a packed schedule of cocktail parties, special chef dinners, a yacht party, and cooking demonstrations in partnership with 50 restaurants, hotels, and businesses. Participating restaurants include Bimini Boatyard Bar & Grill, DaCampo Osteria, SAIA, Steak 954, and Via Luna.
