Sure, everyones heard of Oscar de La Renta, fashion designer extraordinaire, but they might not know that hes from the Dominican Republic. Well, at the 2nd Annual Caribbean American Fashion Show, youll learn which other popular designers are from the Caribbean Islands (there will be some from America too) at their fashion show. And to boot, several new Caribbean American voices will showcase their new lines of swimwear, haute couture, and accessories. Also, besides clothes, the 50 models will display the latest in body art. Performing live is saxophonist Jon Saxx, who was voted Best Local Jazz Artist by our sister publication in Miami. Saxx has played with luminaries like jazz-fusion innovator Najee and Philadelphia genre-busters the Roots, which makes this a must-see for both fashion and music lovers. Show starts at 8 p.m. Sunday at the Renaissance Hotel, 1230 S. Pine Island Road in Plantation. Tickets cost $35. Call 954-639-6922, or visit phashionshows.com.
