The smell of paella fills your nostrils. And tunes from the Beatles fill your ears. Your eyes catch a glimpse of cooking demonstrations and talented artists in action. And your taste buds pop as you take your first sip of beer after a long day. This evening of sensory overload, On the Ave, is part of the Delray Beach Marketing Cooperative’s 20th-anniversary celebration, in downtown Delray Beach. Watch chefs from Papa’s Tapas create giant paella in front of you and artists from Artist Alley create new works on Atlantic Avenue. Listen to bands Jerry and the Gigolos and Across the Universe (one of the nation’s top Beatles tribute bands). Collectible cars will also be on display in the Classic Car Show in front of the Delray Beach Center for the Arts. And don’t forget to stop by the beer garden in front of Old School Square for craft beers and wine. This free, one-night festival is on Thursday from 6 to 10 p.m. along a four-block stretch of Atlantic Avenue in downtown Delray Beach, between Swinton Avenue and Federal Highway. Call 561-279-1380, ext. 17, or visit ontheavedelraybeach.com.
