In a post-Harry Potter world, young adult fiction is no longer solely the playground of young adult readers. In fact, some of the most fun and inventive fiction of recent years has been intended for — or at least marketed to — young adults. Hunger Games has clearly made the transition to adult readers and is following the blockbuster trajectory laid out by the Hogwarts alumni. And, for better or worse, no one can deny that the Twilight series reinvented vampires for a new generation.
Richelle Mead is an author deep in the young adult/vampire fiction world, and her latest novel, The Golden Lily, is the second installment in her Bloodlines series, which is itself the spinoff to a previous series, Vampire Academy. She has populated a veritable universe of vampy vamps, and she will be marking the launch of The Golden Lily with a Q&A session and book signing from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Books & Books in the Museum of Art|Fort Lauderdale. Admission is $10, or for $18.95, you will receive a copy of the book and a gold wristband that guarantees a place in the VIP signing line and an autograph.
The museum is located at 1 E. Las Olas Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale. Call 954-262-0202, or visit moafl.org.
