Get Set to Jet
Historically, the jet set were people of great wealth who used their exceptional financial resources to fly around in airplanes -- something the general public at the time could not afford to do -- indulging in decadent activities together. Today, flights are often cheaper than Greyhound bus tickets, and, more important, we still don't need lots of money to have exotic and interesting social experiences -- because we are all rich in imagination.
Wednesday, you can be reminded of that by taking your regular old ground-bound vehicle to the Lounge (517 Clematis St., West Palm Beach) for this month's art nouveau event called "Jetsetter." There, you'll be blown away by the work of more than 25 local artists as you mingle in a mood of "retro decadence," enjoying the feeling of encountering the exotic without straying from your local scene. The event is free and begins at 8 p.m. Call 561-655-9747, or visit artnouveau.com.
